Natural Resources - Community Development Closed Landfill Inventory An inventory of closed municipal solid waste landfill units is required to be compiled by each COG under §363.064(a)(10) of the Texas Health & Safety Code, as amended by Senate Bill 1447, 76th Texas Legislature. Per the statutory provisions, the inventory is to include the landfill units no longer in operation, the boundaries of each unit, a map showing the boundaries, the current owners of the land, and the current use of the land. The WCTCOG area has approximately 188 identified sites to date. Resource Library A library containing materials related to solid waste disposal and recycling is maintained at the WCTCOG. The library contains educational materials for schools, brochures, videotapes, TCEQ regulations and other solid waste items. The library is available for use from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. |

Waste Management The comprehensive planning process, which began in 1991, has culminated in a final draft of the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan that was approved by the TCEQ in 1995. All of the Councils of Governments are responsible for amending the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan.
