We have professional staff who can assist individuals of any age with disabilities, those over 60 years of age, veterans, family caregivers and agency professionals in the West Central Texas area.
We will listen to your unique needs, help to evaluate the types of services needed and provide information and referrals on available services.
We can even help you complete applications for assistance to receive services - all at no cost to you!
Central Texas Opportunities (CTO)
Counties: Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, McCulloch, and Runnels.
List of Programs:
Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)- funding from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to assist low-income individuals/families with monthly heating and cooling costs. Under the CEAP Program is the Household Crisis Component, which helps with emergency assistance as well as heating and cooling appliances.
Local Energy- CTO receives funding from various utility companies to provide assistance to their clients in need.
Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)- funding from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, CSBG allows clients to be on Case Management to work to transfer out of poverty. In Case Management, clients are eligible to receive work related expenses as well as education related expenses. Clients will also receive financial literacy, job etiquette, and computer literacy courses. The Hunters for the Hungry program also operates under the CSBG Grant to supply local food banks with protein rich venison.
Payee Services- If an individual receiving Social Security benefits has trouble managing or chooses not to manage his/her money, CTO will take over the responsibility.
Texas Veteran Commission General Assistance Grant- The Grant is designed to help Veterans with assistance with Utilities, Rent/Mortgage, Transportation, Medical/Dental Care, Financial Literacy, Workplace Etiquette, and Childcare.
Certified Nurse Aide Program- The CNA Program reaches out to individuals that are seeking to obtain their CNA Certification. Selected individuals are enrolled in the class and possibly eligible for scholarships to achieve their higher education.
HOME Program- under the HOME Program, the Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program is administered. The program allows eligible applicants to receive rental assistance up to 24 months as well as assist with utility deposits and security deposits. Also under the
HOME Program, the Homebuyer Assistance (HBA) Program is administered. The program allows eligible applicants to receive help with a down payment on a home.
